Corpus-based Teaching Material

Hey everyone, welcome to my blog.

For this week, we were assigned to create a corpus-based material. I’ve partnered up with my friend Nursena Cakir for the assignment. Firstly we discussed which tool we can use to create the material and we decided to go with Canva. Using Canva as our tool was easy because we were already familiar with it from last year's classes. After picking our tool we talked about what we should focus on for our material and we decided to focus on grammar. After putting a lot of thought into it we picked the use of Be Going To/Will as our subject. For our target audience we picked high school students and the material that we prepared serves as a practice sheet for them. We picked a colorful and visually engaging template for our material. By using our material the students will be able to differentiate the use of “be going to” and “will”. The students will be able to use “be going to” and “will” correctly in the sentences and they will be able to understand the rules of the grammar. If implemented in a real classroom the material should be good to use. The only problem that I can think of is that when we prepared the material we thought it would be a practice sheet so we didn’t give the rules to

the students. They may be confused by the different uses of  “be going to” and “will”. Overall they can look it up from the corpus link that we shared and understand the rules through example sentences.

Thank you for reading and take care💖
